family journey in 1990 to our present residence in Philadelphia.

Orpheus Meets Morpheus
A collection of poems, including the title poem,
where Orpheus, charmer of wild beasts through his songs, descender
into Hades to retrieve his love, meets Morpheus, the great
Soporific, the material world, who casts sleep over our citizens,
so in need of charm and song to awaken. Written in 1991–92

The Puzzle
A collection of poems begun with an oriental motif
(I sit in a Chinese labyrinth / just off the main hall,
for I can hear/ elegant conversation within…) moving
far away and back again, into and out of mythos and lyricism.

A book of poems whose inspiration was the popular
picture books that present patterns which pop into three-dimensional
figures such as floating rabbits, skulls or busts of Beethoven
when you unfocus and stare a certain way. Written in 1993–94
